Ruege, Philip Albert
Philip Albert Ruege was born on December 6, 1940 in Centralia, WA to Albert & Bertha (Bigler) Ruege and raised on the family farm in the Independence Valley near Rochester, WA. After graduating from Rochester High School in 1959, Philip married his high school sweetheart, Yvonne Klundt on January 23, 1960 and moved into their first home in Quinault where Philip was logging. In the summer of 1960 the Ruege's moved back to the Rochester area, living on Michigan Hill where they began raising their family and in 1962 they returned to Independence Valley, purchasing land adjoining the original Ruege farm where they have resided for the past 44 years, raising their seven children. The loving security and well being of his family has always been the primary focus of Philip's life.
Philip semi-retired from logging in 2004. While hauling for PLS, one of his many memorable logging experiences was transporting the masts that were installed on the "Tall Ship", The Lady Washington. Recently he thoroughly enjoyed transporting live fish for American Gold Seafood to Anacortes and Port Angeles. His favorite color was John Deere green.
