Bio
Steven Blaney was first elected to the House of Commons in 2006 and re-elected in 2008 and 2011.
In July 2013, Mr. Blaney was appointed Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness. Previously, he was appointed Minister of Veterans Affairs in May 2011, and to the additional position of Minister for La Francophonie in February 2013.
Mr. Blaney was appointed Vice-Chair of the Conservative Quebec Caucus and in October 2008, he became Chair. He served on the standing committees on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, and on Environment and Sustainable Development. In light of the importance of the mission in Afghanistan, Mr. Blaney later joined the Standing Committee on National Defence and participated in a visit to Kandahar.

Après ses études, Steven Blaney travaille à titre de consultant, entrepreneur et conseiller en infrastructures urbaines et en technologies environnementales. En 1993, il fonde Stratech, une entreprise spécialisée en efficacité énergétique et environnementale pour les municipalités et les industries. Entre 2003 et 2006, M. Blaney préside le chapitre de Québec-Chaudière-Appalaches du Réseau Environnement. Lors des élections fédérales de janvier 2006, M. Blaney est élu pour la première fois sous les couleurs du Parti conservateur du Canada dans la circonscription de Lévis-Bellechasse et est nommé vice-président du caucus conservateur québécois.
